Company Info and Background

Although still relatively new to the industry, BullionMax (www.bullionmax.com) offers gold, platinum, palladium, and silver coins and bars at wholesale prices. As a direct-to-consumer precious metals retailer, they are not a dedicated gold IRA company. Rather, they allow investors to purchase metals directly from their website which can then be shipped to a location of the customer's choosing—including to an IRA or retirement account custodian.

Since its founding in 2020, BullionMax has grown its product catalog considerably to the point that they now offer far more products than many precious metal IRA firms. All of the most popular IRA-approved coins and bars are offered in their product lineup, in addition to some rare collectible coins that may not be IRA-approved.

The company website states, “Our entire goal is to give you a no-nonsense buying experience with the lowest reasonable prices you’ll find anywhere – the way it ought to be.” In our estimation, they do a pretty good job of living up to this mission, despite their few flaws.

BullionMax has a comprehensive education section providing clientele with a myriad of information regarding precious metals investments. Its dedicated “Knowledge Base” section sheds light on everything from investment fundamentals to coin fundamentals, to information about precious metals mining and vault security.

BullionMax Custodians and Storage

Since BullionMax is not a precious metals IRA company, they have neither a preferred IRA custodian nor storage provider. Still, customers can work with BullionMax to ship their metals to whichever IRA service provider they choose for a relatively seamless retirement investing experience.

Secure vault storage can be provided by third parties depending on the individual preferences of clientele. Reputable companies such as Brink's can help you store your assets securely in fully FDIC-insured vaults.

BullionMax Products

The BullionMax catalog is smaller than some other precious metals dealers, but has recently expanded by a wide margin to include palladium and platinum-group assets. Retirement savers wishing to hold gold, platinum, palladium, or silver in their retirement account, there are IRA-approved available products on offer from BullionMax.

Examples of available IRA-eligible gold coins include the American Gold Eagle and the Gold Canadian Maple Leaf. Regarding IRA-eligible silver, the selection includes the American Silver Eagle, Austrian Silver Philharmonic, Canadian Silver Maple Leaf, and Australian Silver Kangaroo. Moreover, there are gold and silver bars available in various weights.

Note that cryptocurrencies are not offered by BullionMax, unlike some of their competitors in the IRA and alternative investing space. Do We Recommend BullionMax?

Yes, investors looking for a streamlined, no-nonsense precious metals investing process should consider BullionMax. Although we originally were lukewarm on their services, they've shown considerable development in the few years that they've been in business. As their product catalog continues to expand, and they offer fees and markups are increasingly competitive rates, BullionMax will likely end up one of the top names in the industry in short order.

If you're one of the 58.9% of Americans with less than $100k saved in retirement accounts, you can benefit from diversifying with precious metals. Without a large nest egg, there's little margin for error. Gold and other hard assets can help safeguard the wealth you have, and retailers like BullionMax can help you get there.

With that said, it's essential to carefully consider all the different precious metals companies available, prior to making any purchases as part of your IRA investment strategy. In addition to its overall reputation, be mindful of a company’s bullion prices, buyback policies, and, most importantly, their reputation.
